A cold and rainy day in Maidstone town…Maidstone United 2 Salisbury City 0…yay, come on you Stones…:)

Pre-match formalities and civilities…two teams, mascots, match officials…

Salisbury City were 2-0 down at half-time, despite they playing in a higher league (this was an FA Trophy first round tie), and for some reason, they spent two-thirds of the half-time break on the pitch…as a punishment from their manager maybe, who knows?

Some very happy Stones fans acclaiming their victorious team after the game..:)

Memento Holbrook House, 5th October 1970…White Rabbit, and a momentous day in the history of Maidstone United Football Club :)

72, Bank Street, Maidstone…once home of Kingsford, Garlant & Co., Chartered Accountants, where a callow youth began his working life, half a lifetime ago 😉

Pub sign for the White Rabbit, an inn near Fairmeadow, Maidstone.

Maidstone United celebrate their return to the town, after a two dozen year exile, with a friendly fixture against Gus Poyet’s Brighton and Hove Albion, at the new Gallagher Stadium. Oh, the result…well, it was Maidstone United 0 Brighton and Hove Albion 5…but it was only the occasion that mattered. Welcome home, MUFC :).
