A photo (or three) a day for 2012.

The Parsons Collar, Isle of Wight Shipwrecks and a Moody Fareham Sky…

Lunch today was half-a-dozen of us at a belated birthday meal, at The Parsons Collar pub in Whiteley, Hampshire.

Above our table in the pub, I was intrigued by this wall map, of Isle of Wight Shipwrecks…I’m going to see if I can find myself one on eBay ;).

A moody sky, above Fareham railway station, early evening.

Old maps are fascinating. When we went to the new Titanic museum one of the rooms had a huge map of Southampton of 100 years ago printed on the floor. For me it was the best exhibit in the wholevplace, though I was cursing the people standing on the bits I wanted to look at 🙂

  2. Indeed they are, and I’ve a fair number of (reprints of) old maps of London, mostly showing London as it was in the 19th Century, as I’ve a particular interest in the location of commercial photographers’ premises in Victorian times.
